Bridewell are one of Birmingham's hardest working metal bands, and frontman Patrick doesn't sugarcoat how they got there.

In Episode 3, I sat down with Patrick to talk about how the band came together from a collection of riffs he'd been sitting on for years, what makes their sound stand apart, and what keeps them pushing in the Alabama heavy music scene.

We got into the studio session in Athens, AL that sparked things, the first song they ever recorded — "Scrounger" — and the music video that came out of it. Patrick broke down how they write with layers and synth elements while staying locked in live using click tracks, and why that discipline matters when you're trying to hold a tight set together on stage.

We also talked about what separates the Birmingham scene from larger markets like Atlanta and Nashville, and why that difference is actually something worth protecting. Then we looked ahead at what's next for Bridewell and where to catch them live.

The rapid fire round covered a dream show with Sworn In, pre-show rituals, and a mosh pit story that probably should have ended worse than it did.

If you're sleeping on Bridewell, this is a good episode to fix that.
